James Monk

Memorial services for James David “JD” Monk will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Heath Tucker, officiating.

JD Monk, age 33, of Skiatook, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 7, 2017 in Skiatook.

JD was born December 6, 1983 in Winchester, Indiana to Phyllis Jane Monk. JD grew up and received his education in California. JD married Courtney Varvera his childhood crush on March 13, 2008 in Indio, California where they made their home for 2 years then moving to Skiatook where they have made their home since that time. JD became passionate about barbecuing and eventually leasing his dream of Burnt Endz Barbeque which took off in 2016. JD was also employed with the Osage Casino where he was a short order cook. JD liked barbequing, fishing, target shooting and football. JD was a member of the Old School Smokers and had placed Grand Champion in chicken.

JD is survived by his wife: Courtney, children: Christopher and Shirley, two sisters: Bethany and Nicole, his mother and step-father: Phyllis and Jerry, grandmother: Victoria and a host of other relatives and friends. His family, friends and community will always remember his amazing food, lack of a filter and great personality.
