James Hardy “Jim” Haas

Funeral services for Jim Haas will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Skiatook Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Gabriel, Pastor Mitch Leonard and Pastor Tom Schulze officiating.  Interment will follow in the Jenkins Cemetery in Good Hope, Missouri under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Jim was born November 29, 1924 in Braman, Oklahoma to Verlin and Ina (Watson) Haas. Jim grew up and received his education in Braman where he graduated from Dillworth High School in 1942. Jim married Reatha Junivee Jenkins on December 10, 1944 in Claremore making their home in Ark City, Kansas, Blackwell, Tonkawa, Claremore, Lawton, Washington, Oregon, Colorado, Ava, Claremore, Owasso and Skiatook. Jim had a vision to plant a church in Skiatook and with the help of Cliff Goines and family the Skiatook Free Will Baptist Church came to light in 1968. Jim had also been employed with Douglas, McDonnell Douglas and Boeing from 1955 to 1970.  Jim liked fishing, deer hunting, painting, working on the house, garage selling, camping and just tinkering around. Jim will be missed by all whom he came in contact with. Jim just had that feeling he gave you when you met him, a true man of God.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife Reatha, one brother, one sister and by one great grandchild.

Jim is survived by his two daughters: Norma Jean Caton and husband Dock and LeAnn Gabriel and husband Ellis, three grandchildren: Debbie Davis and husband Giles, David Caton and wife Marsha and Chris Gabriel and wife Stacy, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be: “I’ve Had A Wonderful Life” performed by Nona Johnson, “Camping in Canaan’s Land” performed by Clarence and Willie Ashlock and “Two Little Feet” performed by Hayden Bramlett.

Pallbearers will be: F.B. Leonard, Leon McQuay, Hayden Bramlett, Tom Johnson, Shearl Brinson Jr. and Rev. Doyle Ginn.

The family of Jim Haas entrusted his care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
