Funeral services for JoAnn Thompson will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the First Baptist Church West Rogers Campus with Rev. Heath Tucker and Vernon Hogue officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

JoAnn Thompson, age 82, of Skiatook, passed away Tuesday March 12, 2019 at her residence.

JoAnn was born April 10, 1936 in Ada, Oklahoma to Willard and Grace (Smith) Burkhart. JoAnn grew up and received her education in Tulsa where she graduated in 1954 from Webster High School. JoAnn married Dan Thompson Sr. on May 9, 1958 in Tulsa making their home there until moving to Houston, Texas. In 1990 they moved to Tulsa and made their final home in Skiatook in 2007. JoAnn had been employed with American Airlines and was a homemaker. JoAnn loved to crochet, work with flowers, volunteering, taking trips with her family and her friends. JoAnn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Skiatook, loved watching the kids there and was active with the Awana’s Club. JoAnn liked going and watching her grandkids and great grandkids events.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband: Dan, brothers: Fred Burkhart and Jerry Burkhart.

JoAnn is survived by her two sons: Danny Thompson Jr.,  wife Emily, and Mark Thompson, sister: Betty Hargrove, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers for the service are: Chris McLemore, Hogan McLemore, Ernest Garza, Trey Dick, Kenneth Thompson and Danny Thompson III.

Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Old Rugged Cross”.

The family of JoAnn Thompson entrusted her care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
