Funeral services for Verna Evelyn Benigar will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Butler, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton funeral Home.

Verna E. Benigar, age 95, of Skiatook, passed away Friday, April 28, 2017 in the North County Living center in Collinsville.

Verna was born January 14, 1922 in Avant, Oklahoma to Elisha B. and Susie (Dawson) Brown. She grew up and received her education in Skiatook graduating in 1940. Verna married Truman Collins in 1940, in 1972 she married Clarence E. Miller and  later married Floyd Benigar. Verna worked for Douglas during World War II where she was known as Rosie The Riveter. Verna was also a bookkeeper for the family business. Verna liked sewing, quilting and cooking.

Verna was preceded in death by her mother and father, her 3 husbands, one son: Richard Gary Collins and by 13 brothers and sisters.

Verna is survived by her son: Clay Collins, 4 grandchildren, one great grandchild several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art”.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Collins, Chance Collins, Brandon Collins, Jake Bersche, Ketewa Killsnight and Dakota Collins.

The family of Verna Evelyn Benigar entrusted her care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
