Virgil Dewayne “Cub” Shelton
Visitation for Cub Shelton will be held Thursday, January 9, 2020 at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at A Glorious Fellowship Church in Collinsville with Pastor Candace Brim Pastor Lee Morgans officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Cub Shelton, age 88, of Skiatook, passed away Monday, January 6, 2020 at Porta Caeli House in Tulsa.
Cub was born July 8, 1931 in Skiatook to Virgil and Mae (Willhite) Shelton. He grew up and received his education in Skiatook Graduating in 1949. After graduation he entered into the Marines and retired in 1974, but stayed active in the reserves until 1981. Cub married Oelta Sue Hinton on October 29, 1959 in Tulsa making their home in Skiatook except while in the military when they lived where they were stationed. After the military he worked for and retired from Byran Jackson Oil Field Supply Co.. Cub loved reading his bible, listening to televangelists on t.v., and he was an avid OU fan.
Cub was preceded in death by his mother and father: Mae and Virgil, Wife: Oelta, brothers: Kenneth and George, and sisters: LaQuita, Dorlene, and Nancy.
Cub is survived by his Children: Twila Shelton, Kim Boynton, and Clayton Shelton, brothers: Calvin and Clifton Shelton, sisters: Peggy Killion, Vi Nail, Hope Flatt, and Joyce Barlow, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace”, “I Can Only Imagine” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”.
Pallbearers for the service will be: Derrel Harris, Virgil Mitchell, Darrell Craig, Larry Massey, Tim Hanvey and Waburn Silcox.
The family of Cub Shelton entrusted his care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
