Barry Keith Emerson
Funeral services for Barry Keith Emerson were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Standridge and Bill Bowman, officiating. Interment followed in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Barry Keith Emerson, age 58, of Skiatook, Ok died at 10:54 a.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 in the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.
Barry was born December 7, 1953 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Charles Kenneth and Evelyn Mae (Brown) Emerson. Barry grew up and received his education in Pittsburg, Kansas graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1971. Barry attended Pittsburg State University, College of Technology, auto mechanics graduating in 1974. Barry also attended Spartan School of Aeronautics graduating in 1984. Barry was employed with American Airlines since 1985 where he was a mechanic. Barry married Karen Annette Grogan on October 24, 1993 in Bixby, Oklahoma and they made their home in Bixby until moving to Skiatook in 2001 where they have lived since that time. Barry was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Skiatook. Barry enjoyed outdoors, helping with the Boy Scouts, canoeing, camping and Harleys, But most of all being with his family.
Barry was preceded in death by his father; Charles Kenneth Emerson, one brother; Gary Kent Emerson and by one step-son; Christopher Hadley.
Barry is survived by his wife; Karen of the home, one son; Brandon Emerson of the home, mother; Evelyn Emerson of Pittsburg, Kansas, six sisters; LaVerna Davied of Frontenac, Kansas, Lorna Metro of Pittsburg, Kansas, Kathy Emerson of Carrolton, Texas, Brenda Hurt of Pittsburg, Kansas, Barbara Murray and husband Larry of Chelsea, Oklahoma and Cheryl Morgan and husband Mike of Olatha, Kansas, one step grandson; Dakota Hadley, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services was; “Look For Me At Jesus Feet”, performed by Scott Bodley, “We Will Ride” performed by Kent Carver and the Immanuel Baptist Church Choir and “Beulah Land” performed by Charles Carver and the Congregation, Margret Carver was the pianist for the services.
Casket escorts for the services were; Mark Williams, Larry Murray, Cris Hakanson, Kyle Murray, Larry Paul Murray and David DeShazer.
