Betty Jo Cryder, 96, of Skiatook, Oklahoma, passed away on November 4, 2026. Born Betty Jo Phillips in Skiatook, Oklahoma, she
lived a long and meaningful life devoted to her family, her faith, and the values she held dear.
Betty graduated from Sperry High School in 1949 and attended Braughon’s Business School in Tulsa. In 1950, she married Alvin
“Gene” Cryder, and together they raised two sons. Betty worked several office jobs throughout her life, including more than 25 years
with Chandler Materials, where she worked until her retirement.
As the oldest of eight children, Betty naturally took on the role of caring for those around her. She was a loving and devoted sister,
mother, and grandmother who always looked after her family. Her nurturing spirit and steady presence made her someone her family
could always depend on.
Betty found joy in tending to her flowers, spending time with her family, and keeping her home in order. She attended Skiatook First
Assembly of God Church for many decades, where her faith remained an important part of her life.
Those She Leaves Behind
Betty is survived by her son, Bill Cryder, and his wife, Dena Cryder; her daughter-in-law, Donna Cryder; her grandchildren, Zach,
April, Lora, Paul, and Jacob; and multiple great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Wilma Brown and Iva Jean
Holcomb, and her brother, Thurman Phillips.
Those Who Welcomed Her Home
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Cryder; her son, Phillip Cryder; her parents, Homer and Iva Phillips; and her
brothers, Homer, Tom, Floyd, and John Phillips.
Betty will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the love and stability she brought to the
lives of those around her. Her legacy will live on through the generations of family she cherished and the many memories they hold
dear.
