A life defined by hard work, perseverance, faith, and unwavering determination came to rest with the passing of Brian — a devoted husband, father, patriot, and master mechanic who leaves behind a legacy of strength, integrity, and quiet determination.
Brian’s life began with hard lessons in responsibility and perseverance. As a boy, he worked long days alongside his father on the family’s potato farm in Minnesota, learning early that nothing worthwhile comes without effort. Those long rows of potatoes planted the values that guided him throughout his life: discipline, resilience, and pride in honest work.
He carried those values into service to his country, proudly serving four years in the United States Air Force as a B-52 engine mechanic. Brian loved his country deeply, and his time in the Air Force remained a source of great pride throughout his life.
After completing his service, Brian attended Spartan School where he earned his Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license, beginning a career that would span decades. He joined American Airlines and dedicated 35 years to the company, earning a reputation as someone who could solve any problem placed before him. Through skill, persistence, and an unmatched work ethic, Brian eventually retired as a Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Inspector — a role that reflected the trust and respect he had earned throughout his career. To those who worked with him, Brian was simply the man who could fix anything.
After life had taken them down different paths, Brian and Cindy found their way back to one another. Their reunion became one of the greatest blessings of his life. Cindy was not only his loving wife, but also his best friend and the love of his life. Together they built a life filled with laughter, faith, and companionship, sharing adventures, quiet moments, and the joy of simply being together. Through every season that followed, Cindy remained faithfully by his side.
Outside of work, Brian’s heart belonged to the things he loved most: his family, his faith, and the freedom of the open road on his Harley-Davidson. When time allowed, he could be found hunting in the quiet woods, fishing by the water, camping under the stars, or proudly working on refurbishing his beloved 1941 truck. He also enjoyed traveling and making memories with those he loved.
Brian found a special brotherhood with the Patriot Guard Riders, where he stood in honor of those who served. Alongside close friends Louis and Natalia, this chosen family became an important and meaningful part of his life.
Later in life, Brian faced battles that would have stopped many others. After suffering frequent seizures and enduring two major strokes — one of which left doctors saying he would never walk again — Brian refused to accept defeat. True to the determination that defined him, he fought his way back step by step. Through grit, stubborn resolve, and faith, he proved them wrong and walked again.
Brian was tough, determined, and relentless in the face of adversity. Whatever he set his mind to, he pursued with everything he had. There truly was nothing he couldn’t fix — whether it was a machine, a problem, or a challenge life placed before him.
More than anything, Brian will be remembered for the strength of his character, his love for family and friends, his devotion to God and country, and the example he set of what it means to never quit.
Brian is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; his sister, Mary; his two sons; and his two grandsons, who will carry forward his legacy of strength, determination, and love for family.
He was preceded in death by his father, David; his mother, Beverly; his sister, Karen; and his first wife, Teresa.
Though his hands may now rest, the work of his life lives on — in the lives he touched, the things he built and repaired, and in the heart of Cindy and the family who loved him. His strength, love, and spirit will continue to guide them down the road ahead.
