Chester "Chet" Ray Veazey, a devoted minister, skilled handyman, and cherished family man, passed away on March 9, 2026, in Sperry, Oklahoma. Born on July 21, 1937, in Eldorado, Oklahoma, Chet led a life marked by faith, service, and dedication to those around him.

Chet grew up in Westville, Oklahoma, where he received his education and graduated from Westville High School in 1955. Showing a deep commitment to learning and spiritual growth, he attended several colleges and earned multiple degrees. His academic journey culminated with a Doctor of Ministry from Trinity Theological in Newburgh, Indiana, reflecting his passion for ministry.

His career was characterized by his heartfelt ministry in several churches over the years, providing guidance, support, and spiritual leadership to many communities. In addition to his ministerial work, Chet was widely respected as a handyman, known for his dependable craftsmanship and loyal clientele who called upon him for projects both large and small.

Chet honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy, demonstrating the same dedication and service he extended throughout his life.

On June 17, 1957, he married Genevieve "Gene" Elaine Spyker, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage until her passing. Later, on September 5, 2000, Chet married Mary Ruth Babbitt in Tiff City, Missouri, and together they made their home in Sperry, Oklahoma.

He delighted in the simple pleasures of life, including fishing, wood carving, gardening, and most especially cherished the time spent playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Chet is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Veazey; children Tim Veazey and wife Kathy, Tina Crase and husband Lonnie, and Taylene Inman; thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; brothers Bill Veazey and Tom Veazey and wife Barbara; sisters-in-law Fran Veazey, Gale Tapp, and Beverly Spyker; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends who were touched by his generous spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Bolton Veazey and Beaulah "Dolly" (Yates) Veazey; his first wife, Genevieve "Gene" Veazey; his daughter, Ila Jean Veazey; and his siblings Ruby Farmer, Mary Veazey, Betty Lue Veazey, Fred Veazey, Dorothy Faye Veazey, and Bobby Lou Veazey and son-in-law Jim Inman.

A visitation will be held on March 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1000 South Lombard Lane in Skiatook, Oklahoma. The funeral service will take place on March 19, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Osage Hills Christian Church, 4500 W Edison St, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Chester "Chet" Ray Veazey’s legacy of faith, service, and love endures through all who knew him. He will be remembered with deep respect and affection by his family, friends, and community.
