Clarence Vernon Ashlock had been longing to go to Heaven and was finally able to gaze upon the face of Jesus on April 28, 2026.
Clarence was born on December 19, 1943 in Turley, Oklahoma to Virgil and Opal Ashlock. His years of education were spent at Cherokee Elementary, Monroe Middle School, and McClain High School. In 1962 at 19 years old, Clarence married Sherry Pierce, and from that union two children were born, Destry and Monty.
Clarence worked for Oklahoma Electric as an electrician from 1962-1967 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He then left that occupation and hired on at Consolidated Freightways. After being a private truck driver between 1967-1998, Clarence retired on June 30, 1998. Between the years of 1998 and 2008, he built several homes to sell. Clarence was also superior at fixing up used pontoon boats to resell.
In Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Clarence married the love of his life, Willie, on June 22, 1993. They made their home in Skiatook, Oklahoma in 1996. Clarence and Willie enjoyed life as they traveled and went to music shows in Eureka Springs and Branson. Between the years of 2006 and 2015, Clarence and Willie were part of music/comedy show in Skiatook named the Auction Opry. Clarence was a master musician, playing the guitar, and also singing gospel/old country songs with Willie and the band.
Clarence enjoyed life. Boating on the lake, fishing, and riding motorcycles were some of his favorite past times, but he treasured moments shared with the grandchildren more than anything else. He was also very competitive when playing pool, Wahoo, or Farkle. Clarence was a blessing to his church family, attending and being a member of the Skiatook Free Will Baptist Church. He shared his music talents almost every Sunday and Wednesday, singing special music with Willie and others during services. Clarence had a special place by the front doors of the church where he would sit and greet each person who came in on Sunday mornings. His smile and handshakes were a blessing!
Clarence had a heart attack in 2011, but God preserved his life for 15 more years. Clarence made it his mission in life to make sure that every person that he met knew that Jesus loved them. Clarence was a warrior. He fought cancer for 7 years with the determination to be with his family and friends as long as God would allow him to be. He thought it was worth the battle to be able to spend just one more day with those he loved.
Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Opal (Sidilik) Ashlock; three brothers, Don Ashlock, Leslie Ashlock, and Ervin Ashlock; one sister, Darlene Maner; one son, Monty Ashlock; and one great grand daughter, Brooklyn.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Willie Ashlock, of the home; one daughter, Destry Davis and her close companion, Ray Wise; one sister, Waneta Wilkins; two grand daughters, Desiree Blackburn and Lindsey Harris; five great grand children, Austin, Callie, Bensen, Maverick, and Alex; bonus children, Mitch and Rachel Leonard; bonus grand children, Eli and Amanda Leonard, Ethan and Mary Bavido, Paul and Hannah Day, Aaron and Leah Stirewalt, Abbie Leonard and Kyle Taylor, and Silas Leonard; bonus great grand children, Lilly, Asher, Atticus, Amayah, Georgia, Haven, Amethyst, Autumn, and Aurora; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Clarence will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched. He truly loved people and if he could tell you anything it would be two things : “Don’t miss Heaven” and of course,
“JESUS LOVES YOU!”
