CLEOLA FAYE WALKER

Cleola Faye Walker, age 99, a Skiatook native, was promoted to heaven at 10:02 A.M., Tuesday, January 9, 2013, at Evergreen Nursing Home in Owasso Oklahoma.

Mrs. Walker was born on April, 20, 1913, to Robert B. Dawson and Clara (Claypool) Dawson, Indian Territory Pioneers.  She married her High School sweetheart, Riley Walker, and was a full time wife and mother.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, daughter; Berdina Walker Carlson;  her two sons, Wallace Walker and Conley Walker; two brothers, Glen Dawson and Buel Dawson, three sisters; Thelma Williams; Leta Cain and her twin Lela (died in infancy).

Mrs. Walker was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a charter member of the Skiatook Museum, and a member of the Skiatook Garden Club.  She was a retired member of the Tulsa Board of Realtors, co-owner of Walker Realtors and a licensed realtor working in sales for 20 years.

Faye was an avid gardener and she loved to work in her garden and flowers. She particularly enjoyed growing and planting different varieties of gourds. She also enjoyed sewing and cooking.  Her greatest joy was getting her family together for a big dinner.  She had many hobbies which included collecting stamps and a worldwide rock collection.  She enjoyed life, and had a unique sense of humor.  She had an adventurous spirit which took her panning for gold in Alaska, hiking to the top of Pikes Peak, and riding in an air boat in the alligator infested Everglades.

Mrs. Walker is survived by six grandsons, Dennis Carlson, Dr. Scott Carlson, Mark Walker, Dr. Andrew “Todd” Walker, Brett Walker, Captain Douglas Walker (Operations Officer of USS John C. Stennis CVN74) and one granddaughter, Laura Walker Arrington.  She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Faye had many physical challenges in her last years, but she never failed to amaze people with her sharp mind, her wonderful stories, quick wit, and her attention to detail.  She will be greatly missed.

Services for Mrs. Walker, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bowman and her grandson, Dr. Scott Carlson officiating.  Internment will follow in Osage Gardens Cemetery in Skiatook.

Pall Bearers for the services are: Mark Walker, Todd Walker, Brett Walker, Nathan Carlson, Conner Carlson and Brad Hollowell. Honorary Pall Bearers are Doug Walker, Zach Walker and Tyler Walker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Immanuel Baptist Church of Skiatook, Building or Missions fund.
