Earlene Lucille Houser, a dedicated and hardworking woman whose life reflected a deep commitment to her community and family, passed away on May 9, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on November 16, 1942, in Council Bluff, Colorado, Earlene was raised and educated in the same town that nurtured her early years.
Throughout her life, Earlene demonstrated a tireless work ethic, contributing her talents in various roles that touched the lives of those around her. She worked for Safeway grocery store, serving customers with care and diligence. Her engaging personality found a place behind the bar at the Twin City Bar, where she was known as a friendly and welcoming bartender. Adding another chapter to her diverse career, Earlene also mastered the craft of donut making at Winchell's Donut House, bringing sweetness and joy to many.
Earlene's life was enriched by her family, who remember her with great affection. She is survived by her son: Wendell Campbell step-son, Darren Byers, as well as nephew: Paul Campbell and nieces Vicki Wilson and Helen Mendoza who carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength. Her passing marks the loss of a beloved figure who valued her relationships deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Lawrence James and Helen Lucille (Cox) James, whose guidance shaped much of her early life. Also deceased are her companion Mary Byers, step-son Kerry Byers, sister Patricia Ann Campbell, and brother Larry James Jr. Their memory remains closely intertwined with the chapters of Earlene’s life story.
Earlene Lucille Houser’s journey was one of resilience, warmth, and an enduring spirit. She will be remembered respectfully by all who had the privilege to know her and whose lives she touched along the way.
