Harry Gus Alex, born on May 12, 1943, in Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Skiatook, Oklahoma. He lived a life marked by dedication, compassion, and service.
Harry was a devoted truck driver who spent over 50 years in the profession. His commitment to his work and the road became a defining aspect of his life, an embodiment of his hardworking nature. Harry proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, dedicating five years to the Navy as a seaman, followed by six years in the Marines, where he held the rank of Lance Corporal E3. This period of service not only shaped his character but also instilled in him values of discipline and integrity which he carried throughout his life.
He received his education in Pittsburg, Kansas, attending Pittsburg High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with learning and growth. On February 25, 1972, he married Sandra Jean Hicks in Pittsburg, Kansas. Their union was a significant bond in his life, and together, they created a loving home first in Owasso, Oklahoma, before relocating to Skiatook in 1999.
Harry was a dedicated member of the Vera Full Gospel Fellowship Church, where he found a supportive community and deepened his spiritual journey. He had a passion for fishing and was an enthusiastic fan of Star Trek, Star Wars, and Marvel Movies, which brought joy and entertainment to his life.
He is survived by his daughters, Robin Roller and her husband Roy, Rhonda Gauger, and Angela Sellers and her husband Travis. Harry's legacy continues through his thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who will cherish the memories and love he imparted to them. He is also survived by his sister, Sheila Wilson, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly.
Harry joins his parents, Gus and Augustine (Bozick) Alex, and his beloved wife, Sandy Alex, in eternal rest. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny, Jimmy, Gus, and Nick Alex, his sister, Mary Alex, and his grandsons, Alex Hillyard and Joshua Gauger.
A funeral service will be held on December 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Vera Full Gospel Fellowship Church located at 120 West Ramona Avenue, Vera, OK 74082. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at 3:00 PM at Floral Haven Cemetery, located at 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, OK 74012, where he will be laid to rest.
Harry Gus Alex’s steadfast spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
