Homer Dale Zachary, known affectionately as "Poppy," passed away on June 18, 2025, at the age of 83 in Skiatook, Oklahoma. Born on July 26, 1941, in Coalgate, Oklahoma to Jack H. and Mary Lucy (Coal) Zachary, Homer lived a life marked by service, dedication, and a deep love for his family.

Homer grew up in Stuart, Oklahoma, where he received his education before graduating high school. His commitment to his community was evident in his distinguished career, where he proudly served as the Police Chief in Krebs, Oklahoma, and as a County Deputy for Pittsburg County. His work in law enforcement showcased his desire to protect and serve those around him.

In 1963, Homer took a bold step by entering the United States Army, dedicating himself to his country until his honorable discharge in 1969. This period of service was a testament to his character and sense of duty.

Homer's interests were simple yet profound; he cherished the time spent fishing and the invaluable moments shared with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Known as "Poppy," he was a beloved figure in their lives, always ready with wisdom, stories, and the warmth of a grandparent’s love.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia, of the home, along with his two daughters, Leta Wood and Leah Zachary, grandson Hunter Wood. He also leaves behind step-children, Billy Ridenour and wife Sheri, Jackie Ridenour, Gary Ridenour, and Bobby Ridenour, as well as his dear sister, Mary Jackson. Homer was a proud patriarch to eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember him fondly.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Lucy Zachary, three sisters, Delsa Curtis, Helen Nelson and Elizabeth Zachary, and two brothers, Wardlo Zachary and Kenneth Zachary.

Homer Dale Zachary's legacy of love, service, and joy will forever resonate within the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed yet remembered with gratitude for his contributions to family and community alike.
