John Monroe Graves

John Monroe Graves, born November 26, 1949, in Clarksville, Arkansas to Stephen Verlon and Vaunda Jo (Ralph) Graves, passed away on June 28, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. John’s journey through life was marked by kindness, hard work, family devotion, and quiet service to his community.

The son of Verlon and Jo Graves, both of whom preceded him in death, John grew up in Tulsa and formed deep lifelong connections with his siblings: Sue Taylor, Karen Pittman, David Graves and Mike Graves. He also enjoyed close relationships with his brothers-in-law, Daryl and Michael, and sisters-in-law, Lynn and Lynne. Many other cherished family members and friends remember him fondly.

John’s work life reflected his dedication and diligence. He was employed through the Boilermakers Union in Tulsa #592, contributing his skills to a number of welding companies over the years. His work ethic was further demonstrated when he joined his brother Mike at Graves Pest Control, where his reliable presence and steady hands aided the family business.

Beyond his professional endeavors, John found contentment and joy in nurturing life and faith. He was accomplished in raising show rabbits—a testament to his patience and care for all living things—and tended to his garden with the same steady attention he gave to everything. Perhaps most central to John’s life was his commitment to his church. As a member of Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church, John spent countless hours working, helping, and participating in his church community, forming bonds that carried him through many seasons.

John will be remembered for his integrity, devotion to his family, and humble willingness to help others. His legacy lives on in the lives of his surviving siblings, their spouses, and the wider circle of family and friends who felt the warmth of his gentle spirit.

John Monroe Graves’s presence will be deeply missed, and his memory cherished by all those who were privileged to know him.
