Johnny Ray Jones

Johnny Jones passed away on October 5, 2026, at the age of 59.

Johnny was a larger-than-life person who loved big and lived with a heart that had room for everyone. He had a rare ability to quickly capture the heart of anyone he met. His warmth, humor, generosity, and unmistakable spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Music was one of Johnny’s greatest passions and a defining part of his life. An exceptionally gifted guitarist, he was known as one of the best guitarists you could ever hear. Johnny founded the popular Tulsa band Empire, and throughout the years he shared his talent with countless audiences as a member of Audio Rodeo, while also touring nationally with the Solid Gold Band. He played in several other bands over the years, leaving his mark on the music community and creating memories that will live on through the music he loved.

Above all, Johnny cherished his family and the people he brought into his life. He is survived by his wife, Carla Jones; his brother, Larry Jones and his wife, Cassie; his son, Cody Miller and his wife, Holly; his stepdaughters, Sarah Shumate and Jordan Lund; and his grandchildren, Maddy, Brooklyn, Malachy, Autumn, Blakeley, Dexter, Hava, Killian, and Thatcher. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rosalie Jones.

Johnny’s music, his enormous heart, and the love he gave so freely will be remembered by all who knew him. Though he is no longer here to pick up his guitar or fill a room with his presence, the sound of his music and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
