Kathryn Ann Parsons, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 73. Born on July 19, 1952, in Tulsa to Louis and Mary Ann (Davis) Hayes, Kathryn was a beloved member of her community and a cherished figure in the lives of those who knew her.
Kathryn grew up in Avant, where she demonstrated academic promise and a deep commitment to her education. She proudly graduated with the Class of 1970 in Barnsdall before embarking on a path that would lead her to make significant contributions to society. After marrying her loving husband, John Royal Parsons, on February 29, 1984, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, they made their home in Skiatook until moving to Tulsa in 1993.
A dedicated professional, Kathryn enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Department of Human Services for the State of Oklahoma. Her roles as a social worker, Counselor for Vocational Rehabilitation, and Supervisor underscored her unwavering commitment to helping others, a testament to her compassionate nature.
In pursuit of knowledge, Kathryn attended North Central College, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree, later furthering her education at North Texas University, from which she obtained her Master’s degree. Education was an important aspect of her life, and her accomplishments reflected her strong work ethic and determination.
Kathryn's interests extended beyond her profession; she had a profound passion for cooking, particularly with spices, which delighted her family and friends. Her love for decorating transformed her home into a warm and inviting space, and her affection for animals highlighted her kind-hearted spirit.
Kathryn is survived by her devoted husband, John, of the home; her daughter, Shanna Chick; two brothers, David Hayes and Roger Hayes; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her presence.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Louis and Mary Ann Hayes, and her brother, Ronnie Hayes. Kathryn's legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
