Kendall Ray Davis, a beloved special education teacher, devoted family man, and passionate tennis coach, passed away on November 9, 2025, in Skiatook, Oklahoma at the age of 93. Born on March 19, 1932, in Nampa, Idaho to Rev. Ray and N. Lois (Greenlee) Davis, Kendall’s journey through life was marked by his significant contributions to education and his unwavering love for his family and community.

Kendall grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he received his education and graduated in 1950. His passion for learning led him to pursue a Master’s degree in Special Education from the University of Oklahoma, further shaping his career in education. On January 17, 1953, he married Rhea Pauline Dick in Tulsa, and together they made their home in Ramona, California, and ultimately settled in Skiatook for over 30 years.

Kendall with his wife Rhea and their business partners, Lee and Verna Bailey, owned two residential schools which educated and cared for children with special education needs. The schools operated for nineteen years, employed fifty seven staff and helped hundreds of children become productive adults. Their impact was profound and life changing for many students. 

In addition to teaching, Kendall had a lifelong interest in tennis winning State Champion in high school. He played socially and was competitive into his senior years. He shared his passion for the sport by coaching his grandsons and eventually became a volunteer coach for the Skiatook high school tennis team. He taught physical skills, but also focused on student's personal discipline, integrity and attitude. His program inspired young athletes to strive for excellence both on and off the court and resulted in the development of two State Champions.

Kendall's interests extended beyond education and sports. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and riding horses, activities that reflected his love for both mental challenges and being close to nature. Water skiing was also among his fond pastimes, showcasing his adventurous spirit.

Kendall was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served his country and earned an honorable discharge. He carried with him the values of integrity and resilience, which resonated throughout his life and career.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Rhea Davis, along with their three daughters: Kendra Davis and husband Mitchell Head, Lynn Egan, and Jana Canavan and husband Jason Norrid. His legacy continues through his five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit. Kendall will be deeply missed by a host of other relatives and friends whose lives he touched.

Kendall Ray Davis is remembered not only for his professional accomplishments and dedication to education but also for his warmth, kindness, and love for his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
