Leota Marie Kehler, a beloved figure in her community, passed away on September 7, 2025, in Skiatook, Oklahoma, at the age of 93. She was born on December 30, 1931, in Ashland, Kansas, to Elbert and Letha E. (Cook) Sneed. Growing up in Skiatook, she received her education at Skiatook Schools and formed lifelong friendships that would surely have enriched her journey.
Leota was a friendly and engaging person, known for her warmth and kindness. Her professional life was dedicated to service, as she and her husband, Bobby Gene Kehler, owned and operated Bob's Skelly Service Station for 26 years. This endeavor showcased not only her commitment to customer care but also her partnership with Bobby, who was her mainstay and confidant throughout their lives together. Beyond the service station, Leota made her mark as a skilled cook, working at Bobby's Cafe and later at Greenwoods Fishing Center. She also ran the laundromat in Collinsville for her son, Robby, displaying her unwavering support for her family.
Leota had many hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. A passionate crocheter, she crafted approximately 300 afghans, each one a testament to her patience and creativity. Leota also found happiness in baking and cooking, skills that she shared with family and friends, leaving behind cherished memories centered around family meals.
She is survived by her children, Janet Barnes and her husband Gerald, and Robert Kehler and his wife Roberta. Leota's legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Doug, Kevin, Bobbi, Justin, Jennifer, and Angel, as well as her thirteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were touched by her life.
Leota is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Gene Kehler, her parents Elbert and Letha E. (Cook) Sneed, her brothers Orville Sneed and Max Sneed, and her sister Ila Statton. Her impact on those who knew her and her contributions to the community will be dearly missed. The family requests that her memory be honored through acts of kindness and compassion, reflecting the grace and warmth that she shared with the world.
