Lester C. Hendryx
Funeral services for Lester C. Hendryx will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, 2017 in the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Cody, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Lester C. Hendryx, age 98, of Skiatook, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2017 at his Skiatook residence.
Lester was born July 11, 1919 in Eminence, Missouri to Alfred Harding and Lily Gertrude (Akin) Hendryx. Lester grew up and received his education in Skiatook where he graduated with the class of 1938. Lester married Vena Lucille Martin on June 15, 1945 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and they made their home in Tulsa before moving to Skiatook in 1955 where they have made their home since that time. Lester was employed with Beatrice Foods where he was a truck driver and had also worked in the plant. Lester retired from Beatrice and they traveled before going to work for Vinson Supply where he was a supervisor from 1970 to 1985. Lester was a longtime farmer and rancher in Skiatook. Lester liked traveling, was an avid animal lover he even had a pet monkey name squeaky. Lester was all the time bringing home different animals to the farm.
Lester was preceded in death by his father: Alfred Harding Hendryx, mother: Lily Gertrude Hendryx, sister: Bernice Irene Hendryx, son: Steven Lynn Hendryx and grandson: Sean Alan Hendryx.
Lester is survived by wife of 72 years: Vena Lucille Hendryx, children: Donna Craig and husband Robert and Roger Hendryx and wife Diana, 4 grandchildren: Clay Milliken, Kevin Hendryx and wife Debbie andMichelle Hendryx Moore and husband Tracy and Adam Hendryx and wife Tabitha, 9 great grandchildren, six great -great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and extended family: Pam and Bob Shook and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services will be: “How Beautiful Heaven Must Be”, “Precious memories”, “Beulah Land” and ‘Hallelujah Square”.
Casket escorts for the services will be: Blake Milliken, Eddie Altom, John Thomas, Kevin Hendryx, Adam Hendryx and Tracy Moore.
The family of Lester C. Hendryx entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
