Lora Shirlene Hunter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born on July 10, 1945, in Clovis, New Mexico.

Shirlene spent her early years in Farwell, Texas, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of family and community. She received her education in Farwell and graduated from high school in 1963, an achievement that marked the beginning of a lifetime dedicated to learning and service. With a deep commitment to education, she continued her studies at junior college in Levelland, Texas, laying a foundation for the professional journey that would follow.

Her career reflected her dedication and caring spirit. She served as a secretary for the Appraisal District Wise County in Texas, and brought her diligence and organizational skills to the Northwest Independent School District, also in Texas. Later, Shirlene worked as a coaches secretary at Bixby High School, touching the lives of students, staff, and faculty with her kindness and steady presence. She concluded her career as a secretary for Collinsville Public Schools, where she was cherished by colleagues and the school community alike.

Shirlene’s personal life was rich with love and devoted relationships. She married Bobby Royce Actkinson, and later in life, found happiness in marriage again with Larry Joe Hunter. Her family was always at the heart of who she was. Shirlene is survived by her children, Kelle Actkinson and Kevin Actkinson, and his wife Sarah, providing a testament to the enduring love and support she gave her family. She is also survived by her sisters, Katheryn Phillips and Peggy Blair, and her brother, Jimmy Martin. The presence of grandchildren and great-grandchildren added immeasurable joy to Shirlene’s life, and their fond memories together will continue to enrich the family’s legacy.

She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Martin; mother, Mable Martin; husband, Larry Joe Hunter; brother, Dickey Lyn Martin; and daughter, Robbie Lyn Actkinson. Their memories remain intertwined with Shirlene's, cherished by those who continue forward in her absence.

Beyond her commitment to family and work, Shirlene delighted in the simple pleasures of life. She was known for her love of Coca-Cola Classic, filling word searches with determination and joy, and her fondness for the outdoors, where she felt most at peace.

The passing of Lora Shirlene Hunter leaves a profound sense of loss for those who knew and loved her. Her legacy is carried on by her family, the students and colleagues whose lives she touched, and all who had the privilege of sharing in her warmth and wisdom.

She will be deeply missed, remembered always for her resilience, her loving nature, and the caring contributions she made to her family, her profession, and her community.
