Mick was born December 29, 1925 to Carl Joseph and Catherine (Elser) Eschbach in Jenks, OK on a small dairy farm. They moved to a farm on Peoria, north of Skiatook in 1929, a farm he would live and work on the rest of his life.
Mick grew up and received an education from Skiatook schools. He dropped out in the tenth grade to help with the family farm after his brothers had been drafted to WWII. He worked on the family farm and dairy for several years before being called to serve in the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany to guard the Iron Curtain.
After serving in the Army, he returned home to Skiatook in 1952 where he met the love of his life, Geraldine Landis. They were married on March 5, 1954 and built a home on the southern side of his family farm. Nine months later on Mick’s 29th birthday the couple was blessed with a son, Joseph Kay Eschbach. Two years later on August 13, 1957, they were blessed with their second son, Thomas Michael Eschbach.
Mick and Geraldine ran a small dairy and farmed while Mick worked for Douglas Aircraft. He was employed by Douglas for eight years. In 1963 he joined North American Aviation, later Rockwell where he worked for 24 years. He was involved in the building of every rocket built during the 1960 Apollo and Gemini mission’s to the moon, a job he was very proud of. He was later involved in Space Shuttle Program and worked on the bay doors of every space ship ever launched. He retired from Rockwell in 1988 to continue farming.
After retiring, Mick was a member of the Rural Water District #3 board. While on the board, he was a major contributor to the construction and implementation of the current water plant.
Mick loved to farm. He spent many hours plowing, planting, and harvesting. Every spring he could not wait to get started planting and then getting started in the hay field. At 91 years old, just 3 months before his death, he was still mowing and making hay.
Mick is preceded in death by his father and mother, one sister, and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine, two sons, Joe and wife Dee Eschbach, Tommy and wife Audrey Eschbach, five grandchildren Jessica Hartley and husband Kevin, Leslie Stelzer and husband Juston, Mandi, Kara and Harley Eschbach, one brother John, nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
