Neva Ann Smith-Morgan passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on November 16, 1938, in Sperry, OK to Jake Emil and Nancy (Bray) Werther, Neva grew up in Skiatook, where she laid the foundation of a rich and meaningful life surrounded by her beloved family and friends.
Neva’s early years were marked by her commitment to education. She graduated from Skiatook in 1956, a milestone that spoke to her determination and love of learning. After high school, Neva continued her academic journey at Draughons Business School followed by Tulsa Community College (TCC), further equipping herself for the professional world.
With a strong work ethic and attention to detail, Neva dedicated her career to public service as a budget analyst for the Corp of Engineers. In this role, she was respected for her diligence and integrity, contributing meaningfully to the organization and carrying out her responsibilities with unwavering professionalism.
Family was always at the center of Neva’s life. She is deeply mourned by her loving daughter, Paula Turner; her devoted son, Eldon Smith and wife Gail; and her grandchildren Katherine Turner, Phillip Smith, Amanda Turner, and Abigail Cornett and 5 great-grandsons. Neva is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other loved ones, all of whom deeply feel the loss of her caring presence. She was preceded in death by her father, Jake Werther; her mother, Nancy Werther; and her brother, Donald Eugene Werther, husbands Ralph R. Smith and Jackie Morgan and her son-in-law Pat Turner, whose memories she held close to her heart.
Outside of her career, Neva found great joy in her hobbies and interests. She was especially fond of sewing and crochet, crafts that illustrated her patience and creativity. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her family, creating lasting memories with those she loved.
Neva Ann Smith-Morgan’s legacy is one of dedication, kindness, and quiet strength.
