Patricia Bates

Patricia Bates, née Maloy, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Born on April 24, 1952, in Skiatook, Oklahoma, Patricia lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a deep love for her community and family.

Patricia grew up and received her education in Skiatook, proudly graduating in 1970. She devoted many years of her professional life as a Medical Transcriptionist at St John Medical Center in Tulsa. Her work was characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a compassionate understanding of the critical role medical documentation plays in patient care.

Beyond her career, Patricia was an avid reader, finding joy and solace within the pages of many books. She had a particular fondness for television, especially True Crime shows, which captivated her interest and provided an engaging way to unwind.

Patricia is survived by her loving sister, Ailene Somerville; two nephews, Alan Darrow and Alex Darrow; three great nephews, Andrew Darrow, AJ Darrow, and Brandon Darrow; and a great niece, Samantha Darrow. Alongside her immediate family, she leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who cherished her warm spirit and gentle nature.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Alice (Bruner) Maloy, and three brothers, whose memories remain forever treasured by all who knew Patricia.

A Memorial Gathering to honor Patricia's life will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Sien - Shelton Funeral Home, located at 1000 S Lombard Ln, Skiatook, Oklahoma, 74070. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to come together, share stories, and celebrate the meaningful life Patricia lived.

Patricia Bates will be remembered for her dedicated career, her passion for reading and true crime stories, and, most importantly, for the love and warmth she extended to her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
