Phyllis Jean Kirkendoll, a beloved member of her community, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Sperry, Oklahoma, at the age of 80. Born on May 7, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Phyllis spent her formative years in the city she loved, graduating from Central High in 1963. She dedicated two decades of her life serving as the secretary for Tulsa Public Schools, a role she cherished until her retirement in 2008.
Phyllis was not only known for her warm smile and kind heart but also for her rich tapestry of interests and hobbies. She had a passion for sewing, cooking, and gardening, pouring love and care into everything she created. Her spirit shone brightly during family gatherings, especially at War Eagle with her cherished friends, where her laughter and warmth could brighten even the gloomiest of days.
A devoted wife, she shared a beautiful life with her husband, Aubrey. Together, they built a loving home filled with joy, support, and faith. Phyllis was a cherished member of the Tulsa Gospel Assembly Church in Sperry, where her strong faith and commitment to her church community left a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
Phyllis's family was her greatest treasure. She leaves behind three adoring children—Alicia Mast and her husband Jeffrey, Phillip Kirkendoll and his wife Amanda, and Brett Kirkendoll and his wife Angie. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, each a testament to her boundless love and nurturing spirit. Phyllis is also survived by her sister, Janice Dyer and her husband Elden, as well as two brothers, JD Wyzard and his wife Wanda, and Kenneth Wyzard and his wife Carol. Her life touched many, including numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever remember her kindness and affection.
She is reunited with her beloved parents, Talbert and Edith Wyzard, her sister, Sandra Kay Bell, her son, Bubba Kirkendoll, and her granddaughter MaKenna Kirkendoll, who have all preceded her in death.
Phyllis Jean Kirkendoll leaves behind a legacy filled with love, service, and laughter that will echo through the lives of those who loved her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever guide and comfort her family and friends.
Visitation will be held on July 2, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel in Skiatook, Oklahoma. A funeral service will take place the following day, July 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Tulsa Gospel Assembly Church in Sperry, Oklahoma. Phyllis’s family invites all who knew and loved her to gather in celebration of her remarkable life.
