Raymond Lee Mathia

Raymond Lee Mathia, born August 20, 1955 to Bill and Geraldine (Bohannon) Mathia, passed away on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the profound legacy of a life lived with devotion, steadfastness, and quiet strength.

Raymond grew up in Skiatook, Oklahoma, where he began building the foundation of character that would define his entire life. He received his education in his hometown, finding inspiration and purpose in the community that remained dear to him throughout the years.

In 1973, Raymond answered the call to service and became a member of the United States Army, proudly serving his country until 1974. This early commitment to duty and honor was a testament to his enduring sense of responsibility and patriotism.

Raymond's professional life was marked by diligence and versatility. For many years, he worked for the Rural Water District in Skiatook, earning the respect of colleagues and community members alike. Known for his skill and reliability, Raymond took on a variety of roles—as a backhoe operator, CDL truck driver, laborer, and cable contractor—always giving his best and taking pride in honest work.

Raymond was a man closely attuned to the outdoors. He cherished fishing trips on quiet lakes, the thrill of hunting, and the freedom of riding motorcycles across Oklahoma’s open roads. In quieter moments, he was drawn to knowledge and reflection, dedicating hours to watching documentaries about history and war.

In 1986, fate brought Raymond and Stacy Jones together. Their bond deepened over the years, and in 1998, they celebrated their marriage and spiritual journey by being baptized together at Immanuel Baptist Church in Skiatook, marking a deeply meaningful chapter in their shared lives.

Raymond’s legacy lives on through his devoted family. He is survived by his daughters, Tessa Mathia and Bonnie Mathia; his sons, Matthew Mathia and Zane Knopper; his sister, Paula Crawford; as well as several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, each of whom were touched by his warmth and guidance. Raymond was preceded in death by his loving parents, Bill and Geraldine Mathia, and his brother, Larry Mathia.
