Talon Michael Wayne Whinery, a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege to know him, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Avant, Oklahoma. Born on October 12, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was only eight years old, yet he left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and friends during his brief time with us.
Talon was a bright and imaginative soul, thriving in the world as he explored his interests in drawing, building with Legos, and riding his bike. His creativity was evident, especially in the colorful drawings that adorned the walls of his home. He was a student at Avant Elementary School, where he was in the second grade and loved learning new things every day. His joy for discovery was infectious, inspiring everyone around him to embrace the wonder of childhood.
He is survived by his parents, Jamie Whinery and Justin Conner. Talon is also remembered by his devoted siblings, April Lee Ann Whinery, Brianna Betty Lee Aubry, and Bradley Ryan James Aubry, who will forever hold dear the memories of their time spent together, filled with laughter and adventure.
Grandparents Jimmy Wayne Whinery and Renee Rivera, who showered him with love and guidance, will carry Talon’s spirit with them every day. He was also surrounded by the warmth of his aunts and uncles, Eva and Chris Catlett, and Brittny and Dakota Burcher, who supported and celebrated his life in countless ways.
Talon's legacy will be cherished not only by his immediate family but also by those who knew him and felt the joy he brought with his sweet smile and laughter. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Bobbie and Wreatha Whinery, Linda Bailey, and uncles Junior Whinery, Allen Whinery, and Michael Whinery—each of whom will welcome him with open arms in eternal peace.
A visitation to celebrate Talon's life will be held on February 12, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel in Skiatook, Oklahoma. This will be followed by a funeral service in his honor on February 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Avant House of Prayer in Avant, Oklahoma.
Though Talon's time on earth was far too short, the love he shared and the joy he spread will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who had the fortune of knowing him. He is gone from our sight, but he will never be forgotten.
