Tommy Alvin Switzner, born on January 11, 1965, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away on July 27, 2025, in Avant, Oklahoma. He was known for his dedication and hard work, having established a career as an oilfield worker until he became disabled. Tommy grew up and received his education in the communities of Skiatook and Avant, where he developed lifelong connections and cherished memories.
In addition to his professional life, Tommy had a variety of interests that brought him joy. He loved lifting weights, and found solace in playing guitar. Tommy enjoyed the thrill of shooting darts and had a passion for motorcycles, which reflected his adventurous spirit.
Tommy leaves behind his beloved daughter, Saundra Ruggles, and her fiancé, Nicholas Catlett. He is also survived by his siblings, Tammy Cornett and her husband Tim, Kevin Landis and his wife Melinda, BJ King, and Jennifer Russell and her husband Donnie. Tommy was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Elizabeth, Winter, Ashlynn, Landon, Victoria, Ethan, Freyja, Akiva, Israel, and Rayna, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is remembered fondly by a host of other relatives and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edison Switzner and Betty Marie (Brown) King, his son, Thomas Switzner, and three brothers, Jimmy Whitehead, Billy Maltby, and Danny Maltby, and sister, Diana Griffin. Additionally, he was preceded in death by two nephews, James Corder and Tyler Ivey, who are also greatly missed.
