Beverly Hudson Obituary

Beverly J. Hudson, age 72, of Skiatook went to be with her Lord and Savior at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday at the Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa.

Beverly Jean Hudson was born on October 18, 1951, in Tulsa Oklahoma to Roy and Dorothy Hightower. She received her early education in Tulsa, then the family moved to Jenks and then to Arizona. When she was around 11 years old, her family moved back to Tulsa, where she finished her education and graduated from McClain High School.

When they moved back to Tulsa, she met the love of her life, Larry Hudson, they lived “across the tracks” from each other. The Vietnam War separated them for a while, but on June 26th, 1970, they were married and moved to a tiny apartment in Junction City, Kansas where they made their home until Larry was discharged from the service. In 1971, they moved to Turley and after some time, they moved to a larger home on North Garrison that had an extra lot beside it, they had an amazing garden and raised and sold quail together. In 1983, they moved to Avant, Oklahoma. Larry and Beverly prayed for land for years, it was Larry’s dream, and that made it hers as well. In 1989 that dream became a reality when they purchased 40 acres just outside of Avant.

Beverly loved singing, she and her identical twin sister, Barbara would sing together at churches, nursing homes, and the John 3:16 mission.

Beverly loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him faithfully. She loved her family and was extremely proud of her 3 children, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Beverly was an excellent seamstress and sewed a lot of clothes for herself, her husband, children, older grandchildren, and others. She was very talented and creative; she could make just about anything by looking at it and putting patterns together. She made so many things for her family -blankets, western shirts, suits, dresses, matching clothes, costumes, nursing cover-ups, etc. She was a talented painter and loved crafts of all kinds. She designed a sewing tool called “the E-Z feeder guide” to help pull elastic through waistbands, she and Larry had it patented, and manufactured and, it was sold in some sewing catalogs.

Larry was the love of her life, they did everything together and she loved being by his side no matter what he was doing: working on cars, camping, fishing, gardening, or hunting, they just loved being together. Their relationship and love for each other was an amazing thing to witness. They served in church together, taught classes, were door greeters, worked at church camps, and poured their lives out helping others.

When Larry’s health declined, Beverly took excellent care of him and loved him with everything in her. They traveled and made tons of memories before he moved to heaven on Feb. 5th, 2012. Losing Larry was extremely hard on Beverly, she loved him so much, but she persevered and continued serving Jesus and loving others.

Beverly was known for her beautiful, contagious smile, encouragement, and her great love for others. She never met a stranger and always shared Jesus with those she met. Her love for Christ was evident in how she lived her life and in all the lives she touched. She will be desperately missed by all who were privileged to know her.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Michelle Leonard, and husband Michael of Skiatook Oklahoma, son Larry Hudson Jr. and wife Emalie of Pikeville, NC, and son Eric Hudson and wife Alex of Jenks, Oklahoma.
