Clyde Walter Smith, 88, of Avant went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with family by his side at his Avant Residence.
Clyde was born on January 2, 1936 in Avant, Oklahoma to his Parents, Vearl Walter Smith and Mary Pauline (Pool) Smith.
Clyde grew up and received his education in Avant, where he graduated from High School in 1955.
He married his High School Sweetheart, Betty Johnson in Avant in 1956. They moved to Wichita, Kansas where he was employed by Boing Aircraft. In 1958, they moved back to Avant to be closer to family. Clyde worked for LeeWay Motor Freight for 23 years and worked for the United States Postal Service for 18 years when he retired at the age of 83.
Clyde loved his family and also loved fishing and hunting with his Dad and Brothers and in later years loved to play Bingo every Friday night. Also loved his 2010 Red Cadillac and spent many hours keeping it clean and shiny.
He learned to play piano at an early age and was the piano player at his family church for many years.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Vearl and Pauline Smith and by 2 Brothers, Preston Smith and Don Smith and by the Love of his Life, Betty Smith.
Clyde is survived by one Daughter, Cathy Tarwater and Son-in-law Bill. (4) Grandchildren, Andrea Hunt, Renea Gaskill, Taylor McCloud and Billy Tarwater. (6) Great-Grandchildren, Alexis Abbott, Casey Wills, Josie Gaskill, Whitlee Gaskill, Rhett McCloud and Reese McCloud and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Clyde Smith entrusted his care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
