Doralene Rose, age 89 of Skiatook, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 13th, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Doralene was born on December 20th, 1933, in Pryor, Oklahoma to Pearlene Almina Davis. She grew up and received her education in Tulsa and graduated from Central High School in 1951 where she was known as “Penny”. In 1951 she married Bob Barnard and they had two children, Phillip and Pamela. On July 29th, 1960, Doralene married Raymond E. Rose in Turley, Oklahoma, and they had 2 children, Raymond (Eddie) and Sheryl. They made their home in Turley until moving to Skiatook in 1965. She worked for National Cash Register (NCR) as well as held positions as a medical assistant and a dental assistant. Loving music, singing, and church, she served many years as choir director for the Turley United Methodist Church and later attended the Presbyterian Church in Skiatook. She was quite the seamstress, sewing clothing for her family and ran a drapery and curtain business for several years. Active in her children’s activities, she was Cub Scout Den Mother, baseball scorekeeper, and band parent supporter, and a rock-n-roll band manager for her son and his friend’s band. Her hands were never idle, and she enjoyed crocheting, and crafts like ceramics, painting, making Christmas stockings, and canning fruits and vegetables. She loved animals and adopted many strays that became pets including cats, dogs, squirrels, and birds. She welcomed everyone into her home and was “mom” to so many others. Best of all, she loved spending time with her family and hosting family meals and gatherings, always decorating for every occasion. Her family will remember the depths of her love, patience, kindness, grace, and giving heart.
Doralene was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her mother, Pearlene; her father Frank Garrison; and stepdaughter, Judy Semrad.
Doralene is survived by her children: Phillip Barnard, Pamela Prather, Raymond E. Rose II (Eddie), Sheryl Headrick, and stepdaughter: Jeannie Pawelczyk, her brothers Joe Garrison and Gary Garrison, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family of Doralene Rose entrusted her care and services to Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
