Dr. Steven Treat Obituary

Dr. Steve Treat, a devoted father and physician, went home to Jesus on July 20, 2023. Often described as a man with honor and integrity, Steve excelled in his role as a physician. After earning his doctorate in osteopathic medicine in 1988, Steve used his knowledge, coupled with compassion, to love, heal, and impact his patients and family in the most positive way available. He had an incredible 35 year career in medicine where he had an estimated 5,000 person patient load and delivered over 800 babies. He then decided to transition from family medicine to the ER department in an effort to spend more time with his wife and three children. His level of integrity and wisdom landed him in leadership roles within his occupation. He served as Medical Director of several hospitals and most recently served as the Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at Bailey Medical Center in Owasso for the last 10 years. When asked about why he chose to work at Bailey, Dr. Treat said “I’ve always worked at smaller hospitals . I’ve always enjoyed my little crowds” and that “he’s able to take a little more time with people and that taking the time to get that history from a patient is important”. After being recognized as Physician of the Year in 2020, Steve’s response was “ We’ve got a good staff and great nurses. They are really the unsung heroes. They help keep the flow going. Every good doctor is surrounded by good nurses.”
Steve was born on September 5, 1961 in Fort Benning, Georgia to Robert and Margot Treat. He met his wife Christy in high school and they married on June 26, 1980. Their 43 year journey was blessed with three amazing children. His unconditional love and devotion to his family proved to be his ultimate goal for his life. He always showed a level of loving compassion that surpassed all expectations. Believing in the “Golden Rule”, he lived each minute of his life accordingly.
Steve loved giving and helping those in need. He was a simple man that put others before himself. Dr. Steven Treat loved. He loved his family, his friends, and his patients. He had a heart for service, an ear to listen, and a voice to encourage and inspire. He had a unique ability to connect and comfort others with laughter and love. Building relationships was important to him. He used knowledge, encouragement, and humor to bring peace, direction, and comfort to others. This left them feeling like they had a genuine friend in him.
As his children began families of their own, he became the leader of unconditional love to his wife, children, and grandchildren. They know him as Papa Dino, the funniest and most committed grandfather. His stories he told were captivating and had us in tears from so much laughter. This gift will forever be remembered and his legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren.
Steve was proceeded in death by his father Lt. Colonel Robert Treat.
Steve is survived by his wife Christy Treat; his son, Sam Treat and wife Carry; his son, Chris Treat and wife Marie; his daughter, Jessica Nugent and husband Tony; his mother, Margot Treat; his brothers Rob Treat, John Treat and Mike Treat and his wife Cindee. Steve was an incredible Papa to his eight grandchildren Max, Tate, Callie, Ellie, Austyn, Colton, Hayden and Landon.
