Edgar Eugene Spurgeon

Edgar Eugene Spurgeon was born January 22, 1934 in Skiatook Oklahoma and passed from this life on April 27th, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gene was the only child of his parents Ernerst Spurgeon and Doris Cullison Spurgeon. Gene is preceeded in death by his parents and wife Ruth.

Gene was a graduate of Skiatook High School, attended Skiatook United Pentecostal Church from his birth, and was currently a member of NorthPointe United Pentecostal Church in Sperry.

Gene met the love of his life Ruth Arlene Townsley in Tulsa, during her time at Tulsa Bible College.  They married August 28, 1953.  Gene joined the US navy and served during the Korean War. Later, Gene was employed by Tulsa Sheet Metal.

Gene is survived by two children Sherrie Carr and husband David (Owasso, OK) and Rick Spurgeon and wife Janet  (Saraland, AL) 5 grandchildren, (Casey, Michael Heidi, Gretchen, and Scott,) and 4 great grandchildren.
