Jimmy Carpenter Obituary

JIMMY DALE CARPENTER

Jimmy Dale Carpenter, age 88, passed from this life on August 28, 2021.

Jimmy was born December 30, 1932 to Sherman B. Carpenter and Florence (Williams) Carpenter in Cameron, Oklahoma.

He received his early education in Cameron, Oklahoma, and later in Pryor, Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Colleene Bates.  They were married on February 7, 1953, for 67 years, until her passing in June of 2020.

Jimmy proudly served in the US Army from 1953, until 1955, attaining the rank of Corporal.  He was well respected by both his commanders and the men in his company.

He and Colleene lived at Fort Hood, Texas in the early years before moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma and then on to Skiatook in the mid-1960’s.

Jimmy was very successful in his business ventures. He was employed by Rainbo Bread as a delivery man and later became their youngest sales manager.

He and Colleene bought the Tastee Freez in 1965, and they worked tirelessly to make that business successful. Jimmy built and owned car washes in both Skiatook and Turley and was a founding Board Member in the 1st National Bank of Skiatook.

He was also well known for his sense of humor, his devotion to family, his work ethic, his fishing ability, bird hunting skills, and his cheery personality.

He is survived by his daughter Terri Horner of Skiatook; nephew Randy and wife Emily Carpenter of Owasso; grandchildren Piper and husband David Long of Skiatook, Landon and wife Rachel Johnson of Crossett, Arkansas, and Zoey Horner of Tulsa; sister in-law Pat Carpenter of Owasso; brother in-law Gedo and wife Almira Bates of Spring Hill, Tennessee; 7 great grandchildren, as well as many loving relatives and friends who hold memories of Jimmy close in their hearts.
