Obituary

José Alcala Meza passed from this world on May 12 th , 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 66. José was born in Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico and moved to San Antonio as a teenager. José was a supervisor and (master) Master Mechanic at Nordam for 33 years. As a supervisor, José chose to work hands-on with his colleagues and treated them as equals- except for the computer and its paperwork, which he lovingly referred to as “la chingada pinche puta.” José loved to dance, smoke meats, take care of his yard, fix things, do his unique whistle, and watch the Discovery and History channels. Above all, his biggest passion was his motorcycle. He was looking forward to seeing Avatar 2022 at its release and had plans to attend with his wife. He took great pride in his family. He was not affiliated with any bike clubs or organizations, but he supported every fundraiser, event, ride, or poker run that came up. He would give you the shirt off of his back or the last dollar he had. José was one of the most wonderful men the world has ever had the privilege of knowing. To know him was to love him. José is survived by his wife, Cynthia Meza of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his children, daughter Yvonne of San Antonio, Texas, son José Meza of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter Faith Watt of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and grandson Gabriel of San Antonio, Texas. José has also helped raise Sylvesteria and Cinthia, children of his former wife, Little Jose’s biological mother, Martha. Jose is also survived by his parents, father Juan R Meza, mother Guadalupe A Meza, brothers Vicente A Meza and Alfredo A Meza, and sisters Josefina Meza Cortez, Guadalupez Meza Placencia, Julia Meza Vasquez, Cecilia Meza Martinez Mina Meza Turner, and Maria Meza Delgado, and a multitude of nephews and nieces. José was preceded in death by his brother Juan, his best friend, confidant, and partner in mischief, as well as his grandmother and grandfather There will be a viewing for José on Thursday, May 19 th, at Sien Shelton Funeral Home in Skiatook beginning at 9 am, with services to follow at 1 pm. The motorcycle community will send off José with one last ride around Skiatook and back to the funeral home at the end of services, to be sent to his final resting place in San Antonio where he will be reunited with his brother in their family mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family’s Gofundme.
