Sharon Baker Obituary

We celebrate the life of Sharon Rose Lewis Baker, a tomboyish daughter raised in the company of many male cousins, growing up in Rural Indiana, loving the great and wonderful world God created for all of us to enjoy. She grew up near an old maple syrup camp, playing in barns, and loved being outdoors in nature. She was a woman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and being close to her family and friends. She attended school at Richland Center, Rochester, IN, a small community school, from Kindegarten through High school,

She was the love of Richard Dean Baker’s life, and they married in a rural community church (Tiosa) in Rochester, IN on June 4th 1960.  She was a loving mother to 3 children, and dedicated her life to making sure they grew up to be strong, loving and responsible adults. There was never a day that they doubted her love for them, a soft and gentle soul with patience and kindness, but firm when disciple was needed.

She was hired by the Rochester community school systems as a bus driver, which she did proudly for 25 years, then as time went on she became a loving caregiver to an aunt and her mother-in-law until their passings.  She had a heart of gold and always willing to help those in need.  She was always a light shining brightly to those around her, showing and sharing her love of God. She enjoyed painting, woodworking, arts and crafts, as well as baking fresh breads, pies and desserts for family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by mother, Rose Ann Lewis, Father Richard Frank Lewis, Rochester, IN &  Husband Richard Dean Baker, Imperial Tx, previously from Rochester, IN

She is survived by Son, Donald Warren Baker, Wakarusa, IN  Daughter Beverly Sue Rutledge and Husband (Andy), Imperial.
