Warren “Paul” Phillips, age 78, passed away Sunday, December 19th with his wife Earlene, by his side. He was born June 28th, 1943 to Thomas and Irene Phillips in Richwood, West Virginia.
Paul grew up in Richwood, West Virginia where he graduated from high school in 1961. He joined the Army in February, 1966. Unfortunately, his military career was cut short due to injury and he was honorably discharged in June 1966.
Upon his discharge Paul then pursued a career in law enforcement, serving various communities over 20+ years, most recently as an Osage County Deputy. After his time in law enforcement ended he spent time on various self-employment ventures with the most time spent being a general contractor for new home construction.
Anyone who met Paul knew that he loved fishing. It was his passion. He loved being out on the water regardless of whether the fish were biting. When Paul became ill and could no longer take his boat out, he would still go out to the lake and just stare out over the water. The lake was his happy place.
Paul married and had two children with his first wife. Although the marriage didn’t last the love for his children remained strong.
On November 8th, 1975 Paul married Earlene and gained three boys. Together they moved to Oklahoma where he raised the youngest as his own.
Paul is survived by his wife, Earlene Phillips; daughter Kimberly Johnson of Mt. Nebo, WV; sons David Phillips of Cleveland, OH and Shane Huey of Claremore, OK; step-sons Ricky Huey of Norman, AR and Jamie Huey of Glenwood, AR; grandchildren Nicole Doenges, Gary James Johnson, Sarah Grace Johnson, and Kitoria Johnson, Samantha Huey and Shaylee Huey, Jacob Huey, and Tristan Johns; along with 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Edward Phillips, William Phillips, Robert Phillips, Michael Phillips and Opal Beckett. He was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Irene Phillips; and brothers Ray Phillips and Lester Phillips.
